Most Common Research-Grade Bird Observations (Maps): USA/Canada/Europe (w/South Korea in comments)

May I suggest a top mallard ssp. map for Europe?

There’s only three Mallard subspecies, with one being domestic and one being endemic to Greenland. The normal “Northern Mallard” is almost never IDed to subspecies level on iNaturalist.

I’m aware. I do wish that people would I’d down to ssp. more often as it is quite genuinely useful and interesting data, plus I want an accurate mallard ssp. map lol

Not sure how to feel about the fact that three of the four are domestic breeds.

While I understand it isn’t necessarily a good thing, I am fascinated by how well Domestic Mallards have established themselves in the wild and integrated with the wild population in many areas.

The hookbill observation is pretty interesting, considering how rare the breed is. I wonder how it got out of captivity.
