I added the species (resolving the flag), but apparently there are no tinamou observations around the Serra do Divisor where the species was found.

Is there an iNat obs ? Maybe waiting at a broader ID ?

I thought that bird taxonomy was locked, so that normal curators couldn’t add new species? For what it’s worth, this species was placed in the genus Tinamus using a definition of that genus which has not yet been widely adopted. Thanks, the locked taxonomy was a question I had as well. Irrespective of the curation issues, I thought this would be of interest to the community, as it’s a completely new species, and not just a split or a lump of existing taxa.

to my knowledge, there are no locked taxa that exist any more
