I’ve been opted out of notifications for confirming IDs for a while now. However, over the past few days, I’ve started to noticed that I’m no longer getting notifications for an agreeing ID that has a comment attached (whereas I did in the past).
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/26165006 this is just one example, where the bottom ID with a comment gave me no notification.

I’m also opted out of confirming IDs, but I still get notifications of those…
@thebeachcomber have you been able to notice if this is still happening to you? I also have opted out of confirming IDs but do get notifications when a comment is attached.
Still happening to me, at least 2-3 times in the last few months. Last confirmed one was https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/18889299 when I didn’t get a notification for John’s ID/comment. May have had more since but just haven’t stumbled back onto them yet.

Why not, Tony? Agree with one of his IDs of his own obs and another of a 3d person’s obs and put a different comment in each. Pick one that is already RG if you and he have different expertise.
BTW, I may be experiencing the same problem as the beachcomber, but in my case it may be due to relying on the speech-bubble icon in the upper right of each page and not always reading my dashboard.
I know some type of notifications only show on the dashboard–taxon swaps, eg.
Comments on agreeing IDs will (should) generate the notification in the upper right corner.

Sorry, to be specific I tried and was not able to replicate the issue today.
This has been happening to me again over the past few weeks. As just one example among several, I did not get a notification for the comment + ID by @singhiella on this observation. It was only when I happened to check on it again 5 days afterwards I even realised they had commented. Quite an irritating bug because I’ve missed a few queries directed towards me that I only found, accidentally, much later
is it possible you were looking at the observation at around the same time singhiella was making the ID? i think that could theoretically silently mark any notifications associated with the observation as viewed, which might cause you to miss them.
Not in this case; I tagged singhiella, immediately closed the observation, and then didn’t reopen it again until 5 days later

I haven’t opened this observation since I posted it; only noticed the comment when I was scrolling through my obs, saw it was RG when it hadn’t been before, and opened it to check who confirmed the ID

I think this has been happening to me the entire time I’ve been on iNat, I just didn’t notice. A few months ago I decided to go back through all my observations to annotate them, and in the process noticed several agreeing IDs with comments that I had never been notified of.
I can replicate this if:
-have agreeing ID notifications turned off
-I agree with one of my main account IDs from a test account, save the ID without making a comment
-edit the ID and add a comment
-no notification is received on my main account for the added comment
as an update, this is still happening to me :((
Can you check if you have an embedded agree comment notification for your Polycarpon Tetraphyllum observation taken Dec 23rd?
