Observations with "not wild" vote still are shown in id tab

Can you provide links to some examples please?

I don’t have any examples on hand, but I’ve recently encountered the same issue, where the observer marked ‘not wild’ themselves but the observation hadn’t moved to casual

Can’t find right now, it seems I voted for all that were there, but as soon as new appear I’ll post them.

I’ve seen this happen before with new users. I’m not sure if iNat has certain protocols where it doesn’t trust the votes of new users. But it seems to fix itself after a while.

I don’t think it’s that smart :) probably an indexing error? Some specific examples and ways to replicate the error are probably necessary to troubleshoot.

Sometimes the “not wild” vote is slow to register, and if you navigate the browser away too quickly, then the vote isn’t registered at all. I usually click the vote and then leave the browser tab open for a minute.

you need to read this topic:
https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/why-is-this-observation-casual-needs-id-research-grade-official-thread

I don’t see any explanation of this bug in that topic, definitely, the bug is not fixed.

By fixing it you left us without examples to understand how it happens. I need a fix of the bug, not specific examples, I know how to make them casual by myself.

reindexing

Reindexing isn’t a fix for the root of the bug, it’s a bandaid for specific examples.

So how do you propose that we eradicate all unforseen random glitches, which happen everywhere, and are completely outside of our control? Your iNaturalist observation relies on a very long chain of events, starting at your mouse button. All your other websites work perfectly every time right?

M, what? That’s a place for bug reports, what’s the reason behind you defending of this bug? It’s not a random glitch if it happened a dozen of times, and I’m not even an active identifier to see many observations at all.

The issue is that we don’t know if it’s a random glitch in this case, or something consistent and preventable. We’re saying it’s useful leave an example or two as they are so we on the iNat team can investigate them.

I’m not defending bugs because I have no reason to. Glitches are impossible to eliminate, but if you experienced this a dozen times yourself then I agree that its unlikely to be random. Are you able to reproduce the condition consistently?

I have no idea, I rarely post anything non-wild, but when I id then yes, I found them, only from quite new users with no more than 400 observations in total.
