I would like to subscribe to the genus Auricula but if I search for this name (both in main search bar or when searching for taxa in Subscription search box) the things that come up are all unrelated to the diatom genus, but instead related to the plant section Auricula.
Is there a way to subscribe based on taxon ID instead or from the taxon page? Is this something to flag for curation? If it matters for curation, it’s a really rare genus (only 4 observations and by 1 individual) but I’d like to be subscribed in case anything else pops up (and hope to add some of my own obs after this summer).

One workaround is to add a common name (even a fake one that you remove after). But yes it seems worth making a feature request to search by taxon ID.

Assuming that there isn’t a typo in either of the names, this isn’t going to be a matter for curation. There are overlapping genus names (and even full species names) between plants and animals, for example. In this case, this sounds like it might be a matter for the ICBN…

Is this what you are looking for?
Go to Identify page and type Auricula The fourth one on the drop down is “Auricula genus”
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/identify?taxon_id=1269419
Go to explore page .
Then search Auricula, The fourth one on the drop down list is “genus Auricula”

Under ICN I believe names at different ranks are not homonyms and so Primula sect. Auricula and [Genus] Auricula are both legitimate. Subgeneric names are frequently repeated in different genera. However, it should be noted that ‘Section Auricula’ is not the correct form under ICN. Shenzen 21.1 “The name of a subdivision of a genus is a combination of a generic name and a subdivisional epithet”. The correct form of the name under ICN is Primula sect. Auricula. But iNat is littered with incorrect forms.

That is the taxa, but the issue I’m having isn’t finding it - it’s the ability to subscribe to the genus since there isn’t a way to filter or continue search results when adding a taxon to the subscription list.
Yes I can see the problem. It is odd that the Chromistan genus Auricula does not appear in the list. You can subscribe to a species in the genus, but not the genus. I think there is an issue here, but I don’t think it isn’t related to homonyms.
