Hi,
I would like to report a long-standing bug affecting the Project Observer Leaderboard, specifically the “Species” column.
For observers with a relatively small number of observations (approximately fewer than 700 observations in a project), the leaderboard displays an incorrect number of species. The displayed value is significantly lower than the actual number of research-grade species.
For observers with larger datasets (around 1000 or more observations), the species count appears to be correct.

The observer iiukolov has:
638 observations
603 research-grade species
This can be verified by filtering the observations by both project and user:

However, the leaderboard reports only 475 species for this observer.
These 603 are genuine research-grade species, not higher-level taxa such as genera or families. I know there was an older bug related to higher taxa, but this appears to be a different issue.
There is another related problem.
On the project observations page in the “Observers” view:

the observer iiukolov does not appear in the observer list at all, despite having 638 observations in the project.
The bug seems to affect observers who have relatively few observations but many unique species. It has existed for many years.
Please investigate and fix this issue. The incorrect species counts and the missing observers make the project rankings inaccurate and misleading.
