Leaderboard species count incorrect

Description of problem:
The species count of the leaderboard is incorrect for one member, tyroneping. It has been steadily declining over time (he was on top), despite the fact that he has been adding species. I think it may have something to do with the fact that he mostly only posts one observation per species? Everyone else has correct species counts in the project.

Step 1:
See the species count for users in the leaderboard of Afriherps: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/afriherps

Step 2:
Open the observations for the same project and go to the observer species column:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?captive=any&place_id=any&project_id=15335&subview=map&verifiable=any&view=observers

Step 3:
compare values of tyroneping: 255 and 353. Massive discrepancy.

I was going to ask if it’s research grade vs. proposed IDs because that always leads to two very different numbers, but if the count is actively going down without people correcting identifications, I have no idea.

Yip definitely going down. See the post I did earlier with a screenshot of the leaderboard:

Thanks, looks like a weird API issue. Made a bug report here: https://github.com/inaturalist/iNaturalistAPI/issues/335
