Published papers that use iNaturalist data - wiki 4 (2024-2025)

I’ve just edited the wiki to add Iwanicki and Helm, 2025. I copied the citation format suggested in the paper, which is slightly different that the format for most of the other citations. I hope that’s okay.

As both an observer and identifier of this species (Velella velella), and then as a volunteer on this Zooniverse project, I’m particularly excited to see this published. The authors say they have submitted a manuscript with a comprehensive analysis using this data, which I look forward to.

Using iNat butterfly data via GBIF

Hello everyone,

I’m pleased to share a newly published article that highlights the valuable contributions of iNaturalist data to scientific research.

The study, “Mapping urban biodiversity: contributions of citizen science to the monitoring of the common sloth Bradypus variegatus”, utilized iNaturalist observations from 2002 to 2024 to analyze the temporal and spatial distribution of biodiversity and the common sloth in the urban area of João Pessoa, Brazil.

Just a note that the first post in this thread is a wiki, so you all should be able to edit it and put additions there. I don’t think the new posts are bad as it revives the thread for people who might not have seen it or have forgotten about it, but I think the idea is to have the first post serve as a master list.
