Request for new places in Czech Republic

Hello,

I would like to request creation of several new places in iNaturalist (Czech Republic), which will be used for university field excursions:

  1. Hořiněveská bažantnice (near Hořiněves)
  2. Roudnička a Datlík (near Hradec Králové)
  3. Babiččino údolí (near Česká Skalice)

Description: These are field sites used for teaching and biodiversity recording with students.

Boundaries:

Hello Alena,

and welcome to iNaturalist! I can add those places for you. Just to make sure, do you want these places to be added as a Place feature (https://www.inaturalist.org/places)? That is, as an area with borders? And if so, do you want to add them with the borders of the appropriate protected area, e.g. the borders of Národní přírodní památka Babiččino údolí? And you can reply in Czech if that’s easier for you.

David

Děkuji a přeji hezký den, Alena

Hey all, please don’t add places for others, that’s not what the forum is for. People should make their own places.

@alena_hav you can make your own places, see https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/solutions/articles/151000175019-how-to-make-a-place-on-inaturalist

It shouldn’t take you more than a a few hours to add 50 verifiable observations, @alena_hav.

@alena_hav:@tiwane is right in that you shouldn’t start a project on iNaturalist unless you’re familiar with it. I didn’t check whether you were an active user when replying to your post, I thought I was helping with the technical stuff. You don’t need to have an iNat “Place” for your project, you can let the students add their individual observations to the project you create.

I want to apologize, I think my tone was a bit too blunt earlier. @caroig I know you were trying to help out, but it’s best if people make their own Places.

@alena_hav best of luck with your projects! Do try to use iNat a bit and you’ll be able to make your Places, as well as be able to help out students when they’re using it. See more in the iNaturalist Educator’s Guide.

Dear @tiwane, there’s no need to apologize at all. Your message was very polite and respectful and I took ait as such. And you were right. I really assumed the lady only needed help with creating the places. Since I’m familiar with GIS and had created several places, I offered help with that. The locations in questions are not arbitrary but clearly defined small scale protected areas with clear boundaries.
