RG at genus level

Description of problem:
This observation obtained a RG at genus level, and on its “Research Grade Qualification” list it says “Community Taxon at genus level or lower”, which I thought was very odd. I’ve looked for other such cases, but this is the only one I’ve found so far, even within the same genus. Is this a glitch?

It’s not a glitch, this is the intended behaviour. Someone has ticked “No, it’s as good as it can be”. The system takes that to mean that the ID won’t be able to get to species, so it’s classed as research grade at genus level.

From the FAQ:

Observations can be “Research Grade” at the genus level if the community agrees on a genus-level ID and votes that the observation does not need more IDs
