Saw shark in the Mediterranean Sea

Hello, when I went to Corsica in 2019, I was able to observe a saw shark during the crossing. It was in front of the ferri on the surface, which was surprisingly quiet and resembled members of the genus Pristiophorus, and even had barbels at the level of the rostrum. I’m intrigued now, because I know that sawsharks are sharks that don’t live in the Mediterranean, and even less in open water. Does anyone have a hypothesis as to what it could be, or already observed the same thing in the Mediterranean ?

Is there an ob for the find?

I’ve never heard of sharks in the Mediterranean before so… captive and released intentionally? (No Idea why would a shark be brought to the Mediterranean though)

there are quite a lot of them, you can check out Mediterranean shark records here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=53832&taxon_id=551307

Woah! I have to get to see one if they’re so common. (kinda)

Non, je n’avais pas encore découvert INaturalist et je n’avais pas d’appareil photo.
