Most times, conservation statuses should only be applied at the species or infraspecies level, but in some cases (eg pangolins, rhinoceroses) it makes sense to obscure all taxa at a higher taxonomic level. However, as taxon pages for genera, families, etc don’t have a Status tab, a status applied to that higher taxon isn’t readily visible.
So to make those more visible we’re now displaying statuses inherited from parent taxa on species and infraspecies taxon pages, such as https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/43345-Rhinoceros-unicornis
