You should probably distinguish between the Android and iOS apps, as they are very different. The Android one is legitimately extremely good, but the iOS one lacks so many features that I really only use it to upload phone photos.

I have added the another question that asks about which type of iNaturalist app people used.
i get that this is a a school project, but i don’t think anyone would ever really approach a design project by starting with this kind of very general survey. if you’re going to ask questions in a survey or even a focus group, those questions really need to be a lot more focused, i think.
if you’re just looking for a starting point for ideas for areas to improve, you can find a lot of ideas in this forum (as noted by thomaseverest), or by looking though the discussions in the iNat GitHub repo, or by looking through the reviews / comments in the app stores. you could even reach out to the iNat staff to interview them for just a few minutes. they might be able to point to areas where they actually need someone to do a little in-depth research.
