Taxon attribute to know its habitat

Is there a way to know the habitat of a given taxon (or just species) inside iNat database?

I don’t know if habitat is the right word though. I want to know, for example, if a species is marine, terrestrial, fluvial, or multiple. This information would be useful to create a range map of the species. This would prevent having marine life on top of mountains.

I guess the information must be somewhere as range maps seems to be properly constrained to each species habitat. Or maybe range maps are made manually by the community?

I don’t know the most appropriate way to do it, but certainly some regions have habitat projects. Southern Africa has a habitats project (linked below), where an observation includes a habitat category as an observation field.

This is interesting indeed, thanks for your answer.

Thanks, I didn’t know about this feature. The statistical model seems really powerful. Those data are available somewhere?

You can search the Forum and iNat’s blog posts for Geomodel and Computer Vision. Many discussions running.
