From my parents! I’m so excited to use it properly!
Then from my siblings because I’m absolutely obsessed with horses (and birds)!

I agree! :D
Spell czech? Věra, Eva, a Barbora (Вера, Ева, и Варвара).

OH man I love this book! really opened my eyes about mosses.
I got Wingspan ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wingspan\_(board_game) ) and Dinosaur Facts and Figures - Theropods (https://www.amazon.com/Dinosaur-Facts-Figures-Theropods-Dinosauriformes/dp/0691180318)
I’m sure a much earlier version but Stan Tekiela’s was my first bird book. Now I have Sibley’s, one by Nat Geo and Peterson’s. Sibley’s is the one I have with me out in the field.
I’ve read the first chapter of Bird School, it seems pretty engaging. Looking forward to reading the rest of it now. The Passerines book is full of amazing graphics and is a joy to look at. I’m hoping that it will make me better at identifying all the LBJs we get.
I have read a few of Adam Nicolson’s, all good, especially The Seabird’s Cry.
I’m not a collector but this is definitely what I could collect. I already have a small collection despite my best efforts and I love to sit and go through them from time to time. From cabinet of curiosities, to naturalist journals and veterinary manuals… All with an abundance of outdated scientific data. ![]()
I find the outdated data so interesting to look at though! In my vintage chemistry book there were only 106 known elements at the time, whereas now there are 118! I like noticing how things change over time, the more we learn about the world.
Got a bird buddy, I’m really curious of this connected thing ^^ hope to use it for FeederWatch too :)
I’m a bit late to the party, but here are the naturalist-related gifts I received! The 2nd one is especially good; I hope to get into freshwater fish biology more this coming year.
This helm’s guide is heckin epic! More than 500 pages of pure bird id features and tips, along with taxonomy, habitat, and more!
Should be very handy!
Yep! It’s really useful for iding on the field. The only downside is that it’s really heavy.
A neat gift – a late entry!
Because of my granddaughter coming down with an infectious ‘group sickness’ on Christmas week, we delayed our gift exchange until yesterday.
And now I have new bug-hunting grounds for these snowy days.
Snug as a bug in a bug rug!
That’s really cool
I got the blue one for my 9th birthday (I think - it was a while ago) but it was so heavy to carry around. Then I got the orange one when I went to the Parliament House in Canberra in 2024.
This is the big one, detailed and amazing
This is the small one, quick and easy!
Both have these quick find pages which can be quite handy!
OMG that is sick! The illustrations look really similar to my guide, just with a lot more birds lol
