How are these calculated? A long time ago, I posted an observation of Turritriton kobelti. At the time, it was the only recorded observation of this species. Since no one seconded my id, the observation remained in the unconfirmed category. Recently, a second observation of Turritriton kobelti was posted. I identified it and flagged another user to get a second opinion. He confirmed my id of both observations, thereby pushing both to RG. I guess it’s sort of a petty complaint, but I don’t see how, in these circumstances, I am neither the top observer nor the top identifier.
I think it’s just by the most recent update when there are that few people on the list. There’s no reason to feel robbed in this case, there are literally only two observations.
If multiple people have the same number of observations/IDs, they are listed alphabetically by username on the leaderboards.
Alphabetical order. Okay, that makes sense as a tie breaker. I guess I was just under the misapprehension that if one correctly identified one’s own observation, it counted as both an observation and an id.
the default for the identifier charts appears to exclude one’s own observations, else someone would would always get one extra ID from one’s initial guess or identification by observing. it doesn’t take into account whether it’s “correct” by being confirmed to Research Grade or not
That depends on which of the three different places you’re looking at top identifiers (observation pages, lower right; taxon page, top identifier only; and taxon leaderboard). I believe at least the first includes one’s own observations.
