Uploaded Observations Disappearing

Browser, if a website issue: Vivaldi

Description of problem:

For the last day or so I’ve been uploading a number of observations, usually in batches of 2-5. Every time I have tried to upload 3 or more, at least 1 or 2 of the observations do not get saved and have to be reuploaded. This has happened at least 5 times since last night. I am not interrupting the upload process in any way, nor are errors messages of any sort are being generated.

Step 1: Add some observations through the website, by going to the upload page and dragging/dropping 4-5 photos.

Step 2: Fill in relevant information (e.g., identify species) and press submit.

Step 3: Look at resulting “Edit Observations” list and note that not all of the uploaded observations have appeared. Refresh once or twice to make sure it is not just a lag (every once in awhile one of the missing ones will show up after a refresh, but usually not).

i think this may be the same thing as what was reported in https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/web-upload-bug-dropped-observation/76214.

if you can consistently reproduce the problem with every upload, then it may help folks to understand what’s going on better if you can capture any errors that may be getting logged in your browser’s console, as noted here: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/web-upload-bug-dropped-observation/76214/12.

Yes, it sounds like what’s been happening very intermittently to me. I’ve yet to manage to catch it in the act with the browser console error logger.

do you mean that you’ve been looking but haven’t seen any errors logged? or do you mean that you haven’t been looking?

It’s not happened to me at all since my report, although I’ve not had the time to be uploading as much.
