Valid genus is somehow also a synonym of its family

Hi,
I searched on iNat for the genus “Choresine”. Oddly, the first hit is the corresponding family (Melyridae), which is treated as a syononym of Choresine. At the same time, Choresine is also present in the iNat taxonomy as valid genus.

At the Melyridae taxonomy page, “Choresine” is listed as invalid scientific name. I wanted to clear the situation by removing the entry (a genus has nothing to do as name at the page of its family) by clicking “edit” next to the striked through name, and get to a page " Editing Taxon Name “Choresine” for Family Melyridae" (https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_names/2234842/edit)
Strangely, iNaturalist thinks I want to edit the genus Choresine. When I try to delete the false name for Melyridae, i would also delete the genus.

How to fix the situation? There are also other genera synonymized with Melyridae.

All the best,
Jakob

I deleted the name; it said it was an EOL import. You might want to make a flag on the Family because there are a bunch of similarly marked names there.

To delete just the name on the family, you want to hit the ‘delete’ that is in white next to ‘save’ and ‘cancel’, not the ‘delete’ in red lower down next to the name for the genus. Here is another example from a similar name on the family:
