A project might be a bit redundant as Places already show who is the first observer of a given species for that place - but one would have to drill down a bit from there and find the actual observation they are being given credit for - when you tap on the thumbnail the modal that opens up gives a link to the first observation in the bottom left. I think this is first observation added and not earliest date of observation. However, if one wanted to they could use places to harvest the observations for an added first project. Some comparison would have to happen as well because I don’t think there is a world/global place that gives this kind of information.

But it would be nicer to have all of those on a map from all species, where they were observed first, where more were observed, then you can filter for bigger taxa, etc.

What I mean is having a traditional project with only first added obs from each species, then you can see from where there’re more such first ones, where could be more. I don’t know if @Star3 would like to have first added overall or first ided correctly, but both could work.

Sometimes the iNat featured observation post says something like, “Our observation of the [day/week] is the first [organism] posted to iNaturlist”.
I just thought there was already a project for observations like those, including ones that don’t make it to observation of the day/week.
I wasn’t looking to create a project for this; if someone else wants to, go for it! I’ll join.

Back on topic, https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/wildlife-diseases-morbidity-and-mortality is pretty cool, but can be gory. It’s also supposed to be for wildlife (per the title) so plants wouldn’t be included.
https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/injured-ill-or-dying takes both plants and animals, though (same warning re: can contain gore).

To add, I’m still looking to more projects to add, that’s the umbrella for projects that gather observations of organisms found on building walls. https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/walls-inhabitants It’s one of those I like to contribute, because I learned so much about things that can be found right near us, where nobody looks.

I’d like to pop back into this thread with a little announcement: I have now started my own project that any of you can join! I’m also looking for a good cover photo still. If anyone would like to volunteer their own so I can properly credit you and use it with permission that would be great! :)

I really like it but unfortunately I can only use a photo as a cover if it has very specific dimensions. The size of the spider photo isn’t right and it doesn’t look as good when I stretch it out. Thank you though!
