I have recently gotten an iPhone 16, and that greatly broadens the opportunities for me to make observations. I know that the phone already has a great macro lens, but if needed, what is the best additional purchase lens I can get for insect macro.
I have two macro lenses from Moment and I love them both, but they’re a little different.
The 10x macro gives you more zoom and a more tightly cropped shot. However it has an extremely small focal length, meaning if you move even a few millimeters too close or too far from your subject, it will be out of focus. But when it does work, it captures extremely small details with great sharpness and clarity. You also have to be nearly touching the insect for it to be in focus. This is great for cooperative and/or super tiny bugs and people with steady hands.
The 75x will give you less zoom and a less cropped shot, showing more background context around your insect. It also has a larger focal length, so you have more breathing room as far as focus goes. This is great for people who want a more “quick and loose” experience, or for bees, damselflies and other bugs that are less likely to let you get close enough for the 10x to work.
Both are good, but both produce different types of photos and feel a little different to use. Hope that helped! :)
Thank you for your assistance.
