For new users with iOS phones or tablets, should we be advising them to install the iNaturalist app - is it stable now? and if they have older phone or a tablet, should we advise them to use iNat Classic, or the website, instead?
Is this a Q for users of the iPhone app?
I should expect to use the new app, why spent time on learning the old version which will become obsolete ( https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/solutions/articles/151000211707-why-did-my-app-s-name-change-to-inat-classic- )
sooner or later?

I tried using the new app in January while traveling. It bricked on me and was completely non-functional despite going as far as removing it and reinstalling it. I would not recommend it to new users. iNat Classic works better for me and seldom locks up.
I’ve been using the new app only for many months, didn’t have an issue. For a casual observer and new user, I’d say the user interface is more appealing than the old one. So I’ve recommended the new one.
