What "Place type" is a neighborhood?

I want to create a place for my neighborhood.

I successfully followed these directions to extract the neighborhood boundaries from OpenStreetMap.

But I’m stumped when choosing a “Place type” for my neighborhood. I can’t find any explanations about what each place type means. Are there any resources describing the intended meanings of place types?

Is a neighborhood “colloquial”? You ask people in the area, they’ll know what the neighborhood name means, but it isn’t used much for official business.

Except when it is used for official business. Here in Philadelphia, there are local organizations recognized by the city as “Registered Community Organizations (RCOs)” which the city must consult when making various decisions such as zoning, and a common type of RCO is a neighborhood association that considers itself responsible for a neighborhood with specific boundaries. Does that make a neighborhood a “local administrative area” or “constituency”, at least within Philadelphia?

you don’t have to define a place type. when i created some neighborhoods in my city, i just left place type undefined and made the city the parent place.

Thos categories are really really old and aren’t used. We should probably get rid of a lot of them. I wouldn’t worry about choosing one.
