What useful filters have you found to use in the browser web address field?

I try to read the “Latest” topics in the Forum just to see what others are finding out about iNat. I have found a few of these useful filters over time. Some of them are not available in the Filters window.

- When I am identifying things, I sometimes want to filter out people. I won’t go into the reasons why, but it is helpful. You can filter out as many people as you want. Just add this to the end of what is in the browser address field:

&not_user_id=fakeusername&not_user_id=secondfakeusername

-I enter dragonfly/damselfly observations in the summer. I add them to a project. Sometimes, I enter many observations at once and I don’t remember which observations I didn’t add to the project. Instead of going through all my observations, I can use this:

&not_in_project=

You don’t use &not_in_project_id=
The _id is only for searching and not for eliminating. (I don’t know why.)

So, I would click on My Observations, filter for dragonflies and damselflies, and then add this to the end of what is in the address field:

&not_in_project=ohio-dragonfly-survey-ohio-odonata-survey

-I just read about this today in another forum post. It allows you to find observations on a particular day. I can’t find that post again, so please forgive me for not giving credit where it is due.

Note that you can use the start and end filters in the Filters window. This is just an alternative.

it is also possible to fill in main filter.

There are much more fields you can use in address, look to API docs, for example unobserved_by_user_id, to filter out all species observed by a user. Also acc_below_or_unknown is valuable, to remove all inaccurate observations.

There are two forum posts listing and explaining all of those options. How to use iNaturalist’s Search URLs - wiki part 1 of 2

I created a Journal entry to track them

I like to use “ident_taxon_id=” when identifying a specific taxon (instead of the automatic “taxon_id=”). This will include any observation with an ID of the selected taxon, so it will include observations with disagreeing IDs where the community ID may be at a broader level.

Thank you. I have looked at that API page because I have used the eBird API.

Thanks! I will read this.

This is very good!
