What's Black and White and Red All Over?

In light of the recent color-themed threads, I decided to create my own. Many of us may have heard of the popular riddle, “what’s black and white and red all over?”, with some answers being a skunk in a blender, a black, white, and red house, and organic chemistry. How about some organisms (preferably not those stuck in blenders)?
I have for you some woodpeckers:

Now it is your turn!

This friend qualifies.

So too this one.

As well as this one.

But the cutest one is this one. (red mentioned in description.)

I think the official answer to “What’s black and white and red (read) all over?” is “Yesterday’s newspaper”.

I thought it was a dead zebra (e.g. killed by a lion).

Kite spiders! I’d never heard of them, but from the moment I saw my first I was instantly in love and on the look out for more!

The white is kind of minimal on this Coccobaphes frontifer (a plant bug) nymph here.

The shutter speed was quite low (didn’t have a flash with me) but the front segments of the antennae are white.

I have this already in the red thread, but it is even more suited to this one. I’ll take a look through my observations and find a “new” one later to contribute. This is a Baltimore Checkerspot–a favorite butterfly of mine.

So beautiful everyone! Another fun topic.

Megacerus discoidus (Red Megacerus) which not only fit the color scheme, they also have magnificent antennae, but best of all - they have Happy Face Butts!

Cryptocephalus mutabilis (their black and white pattern caught my eye, I became red all over when I realized what I was photographing…oops, sorry guys!)

Dasymutilla ursus

Sphyrapicus varius (Yellow-bellied Sapsucker)

Anatis mali (Eye-spotted Lady Beetle)

Thanasimus dubius (Wavering Checkered Beetle)

Not a lot of beetles in Erotylidae are black, red, AND white, but there are still some.

We always answered that as “newspapers” which were read all over - but alas, no longer true. (Makes more sense as a spoken, not written, question.)

Some of these woodpeckers are already represented here, but I love them, so here are mine:

I’ve heard it was a zebra with a sunburn.

I’ve never heard that one before.

I’m not an expert, but that’s in the family tachninidae - tachnid flies (aka bristle flies). Hope that helps!
