Yeah, most definitely.
I agree!
I totally get that. I too was a kid in the 80s/90s and being called a nerd back then was definitely hurtful but now it carries a different meaning. It means smart or well versed in something or passionate about something.
Yes, indeed. Kids used to call me nerd too. I never took it to heart though. Lol
And before that, it was a weirdo from a Dr Seuss book! I’m glad the meaning has changed.
Hahahahaha, that’s true.
(Moderators, I DO think this is relevant to iNaturalist, since many of us have been called nerds)
Idk if I’m a nerd. I don’t lack social skills nor fashion. I just love learning. Does tgat count?
Yes, that is a fact.
You know what, I take that back. There are a few definitions, lol. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nerd
I discovered the forum pretty quickly after joining iNat, by clicking on one of the links on my homepage. Then I lurked for several months before actually making a forum account. My first post was in the topic How has Covid-19 affected your way of iNatting?, so I guess I joined the forum because I can’t turn down an excuse to share my personal experiences!
I like it a lot for the value of sharing knowledge to improve each other’s lives - on iNat and elsewhere. Recently I’ve been spending more time on the entertaining topics than the useful ones, though.
