Yellow Warbler Split Question

But all of the IDs on the other 9 were changed to Mangrove Yellow Warbler and have no mention of the taxon split. (I have attached images of both, each of which were taken at the Sand Dunes in Indiana, so all should be Northern, not Mangrove)

This thread discusses the taxon change in more detail. Here’s an explanation for the Mangrove Warbler part in particular, which is indirectly because the nominate subspecies (S. petechia petechia) is part of the Golden/Mangrove group rather than the northern group:

In the mean time. my Yellow Warblers are now all Mangrove Yellow as the switch-over happens. I see a few folks are trying to correct that with a Northern Yellow ID

Oh, this is because of this situation I think… The old IDs retain the same scientific name (S. petechia sensu lato) but the common name on them has been updated to reflect the new meaning (S. petechia sensu stricto), which confuses many observers and identifiers who aren’t carefully keeping track of all the changes and names involved.
