You know you're seriously into iNat when

I was using “sans-camera” to make it sound more like a state of being, in a humorous way.

When you consider brushing all the little bug-shaped bits of dirt off the buildings on your walk to work so you can spot insects there more easily.

Or when you have a dream about identifications.

what was that dream like?

Well it was a week or so ago so its faded. I had been identifying right up until I went to sleep, and in the dream I think it was pretty normal. I was sifting through unknowns and giving them IDs it was not anything crazy!

Come on, you didn’t ID a brachiosaurus?

If only. I have had many dreams though where I saw a new bird species and woke up disappointed. Or where my camera does not work.

When you go in for some emergency surgery (kidney stones) and when you’re recovering with pain meds, you actually hallucinate that you can see and zoom in macro.

(Sometimes I even dream in macro mode!)

That would be me if my family hadn’t caught on!!

For a brief moment, I thought you were gonna say you posted something on iNat about your kidney stones.

That’s a straight up nightmare!

Literally every second day …

Love the pelican up in the tree in the third to last one!!

It of course has it’s own observation

It always amazes me how he can just sit there surrounded by the most amazing nature and read his book  .. I love the one where he sits at the food of a primeval forest giant.. I could have stared at it all day, would there not have been the most excotic critters around it distracting me, as it was my very first encounter with one.. they are just ginormous!

You leave your home page unattended for not even 24 hours and come along and see (After LOTS of scrolling and clicking the “More” button multiple times) exactly 835 new observations added from the people you follow for you to go through. And you go: All right! Let’s go through every single ob and ID whatever I know even though I’m technically supposed to be working on my 4-H record book, which is due Monday.

You’re following a lot of people! And at least some of them have been busy. :grinning:

94 people!! And some will go without posting for days, because of busy schedules, so then they post a lot!! One posted like, four hundred observations!! I like to go through them though! It helps me learn more, and I like to help people!

I am one of those lucky people and I thank you!

…when you see the “iNaturalist will be offline for 1 hour” sign and nearly pass out.

Or, like a few days ago, when the Identify mode is not working, and you and lots of other people freak out:

(And it wasn’t even the middle of the night for us N.A. folks, like the planned offline outages usually are.)
