This is a spectacular action silhouette of a very cool looking species! Silhouettes are super easy to edit and have lots of leeway for various settings, so whether or not it’s too dark is easily fixable. But I don’t think there is a “too dark” or a “just right” when it comes to exposure with this image. Darker just gives a different impression and creates a different mood than lighter. They’re all good.
The variation in color is so interesting! Is this normal for Dingo populations, or is the really pale one a very rare exception to the norm?
There’s more variation in coats than most people realise. Coat variations aren’t common but I’ve seen a few different types. I’ve even seen black and tan dingoes and I’ve seen photos of a local one with a white coat and black on the face.
The colour variation is one of the justifications used to say that wild populations of dingoes are actually ‘wild dogs’ which can be baited and shot without concern.
However over the last two or three years a number of papers have come out showing that there is very little admixture in dingo populations and they are generally in the high 90s percentage pure dingo with admixture with European dogs being rare and old, dating back to 1800s.
It is frustratingly hard to choose just one I have tons from just the trip where I photographed this majestic snowy egret!

I think I’ll try and go out every week and do that as long as I can. Last night after a huge rainstorm I visited a power plant near my house to see if any activity spiked and I found a Little Blue Heron that caught a large crayfish right as I put my camera up to it! It was overcast and I was unable to get perfect lighting but it was still a really fun experience. I haven’t uploaded them yet but I’ll get to it eventually.

Probably a stupid question but do you do the polls every Friday or Monday? And does that mean the photos taken from today onwards count or a few days earlier?
Not a stupid question at all haha! Honestly, I just make the poll when I find time.

Does the “week” literally mean every seven day period starting on monday and ending on sunday then even if a poll hasn’t been done for the last week yet?
As a side note whistling ducks are great! They fly over my home with fluctuating amounts of numbers every day - their whistles filling the sky for minutes afterward. (Usually black-bellied with the exception of the occasional fulvous group in the winter)
