Adding new taxon species by using only POWO

My question is: By either flagging or requesting to add a new species to iNaturalist, is relying solely on POWO accepted names in line with iNaturalist guidelines?

I ask because I am not familiar with the accepted species process, but I do know that iNaturalist works with POWO on which species it considers accepted.

Yes and no. There are many deviations from POWO for many reasons. Here is one of many discussions on it.
