guides are a very old part of the system. they are at least deprecated, if not altogether unsupported at this point.

So, if you want to take advantage of the work that inaturalists have done …by making guides available offline, here is a dumb solution. The fact that coders can’t fix this problem - “display a picture and a piece of text from a database that is already organized that way and downloadable to your phone if the phone does not have a running internet connection” is an indictment of, at best, lack of care.
Find the guide using inaturalist.org
Print it as a pdf (which uses up 10x the memory that the images use in the database of the guide, because pdfs don’t natively compress images!)
Transfer it to your phone
Not as good as the original. But better than nothing.
But why if the download version does not work, then have the option on the Android phone to download it?
Or at least warn users that it wont work if you do try to download it?
