Description of problem: I have been having a consistent problem for about two years now where iNaturalist will not upload photos taken with my phone using the 108 MP camera on my Samsung S21 Ultra.
What will happen is I will take the picture, but when I upload it to iNat the upload crashes leaving an empty observation. This happens regardless of whether I share the file from Gallery or import the file in iNat.
It used to be when I did this it would crash a couple of times, then I would be given the option to clear cache, and then the upload will go through. Not anymore, now I get a message (attached) that there is a bug with iNaturalist and I should wait until the developers fix it.
I did some tests and this cannot be due to the uploaded files being too large. I trimmed some of them down to a much more manageable size and the app still crashes. This happens even if I save the cropped image as a copy rather than as is.
Step 1: Take photo of object using 108 MP setting on phone
Step 2: Upload to iNat
Step 3: Crash occurs
