I’m leaving soon for a research trip for 10 days in Honduras studying nocturnal insects (my profile will be hopping). I’ve never been camping/hiking or even in Central America before. Does anyone have any advice, especially on attire? I’ve got all the vaccinations and such out of the way.

Not Honduran, but been to Costa Rica. The fer-de-lance has near-perfect camouflage in leaf litter. Choose your footwear accordingly.
Snake gaiters are recommended anywhere in Central America.
