I’ve had some silhouette photos that I was able to adjust by removing/lightening the shadow so I could ID the animal. Doesn’t make for a great pic but sometimes that’s all you get.

In my experience, all the best silhouette photos are taken by mammals.

Yes! The most attractive being this gecko that was amazingly ID’d. The other is a pallid swift, which I think will not be ID’d since it relies on local knowledge of nesting sites. To ID it to Apus you can see the head, beak, and wing feathers.

There is also a bat in there, but I know far to little to put any ID on that.
