API Application Request

Hi iNaturalist Team!

I’m trying to apply for an iNaturalist App application but I’m having trouble with the application process. When I go to the application page, I don’t see a button or way to submit an application:

Could someone point me in the right direction or let me know if there is an additional step required before applying?

For context, I’m building Glitch, a non-commercial educational project aimed at helping young people in the UK connect with local nature and biodiversity. It’s a web-based chat and map experience that helps users discover nearby green spaces and learn about species around them in a playful, accessible way.

The project only intends to use publicly available iNaturalist data and images for educational biodiversity exploration and learning features. Users will not log in through Glitch and the app will not upload or modify observations.

Any guidance would be appreciated – thank you!

from that page, check out - “In order to submit an application your account must be at least 2 months old and must have made at least 10 improving identifications in the last month”

you don’t really need to create an application if you don’t need to make authorized requests

Thank you – we have all the requirements, but there is no button on where to apply, could you advise?

To help us understand where the confusion is, can you share why you think you’ve made 10 improving identifications in the past month?

I am facing the same issue. my page says 27 identifications and in the current month it is more than 10. I still do not see the button to apply to create an application. Can you please help?

Thank you. I am quite confused. I have been adding identifications here: https://www.inaturalist.org/identifications/sathsy . Most of the times it moved from initial state to improving. but only one shows as improving. What am I doing wrong please?

Most of your identifications are “confirming” (german: bestätigend) ones (“yes, i can confirm, it’s what others have said”)

The one which is “improving” you moved the identification from genus to species.

So you need to do more identifications from this type.

Do people who have questions about not having enough identifications to apply for the api realize they can access the api without submitting a owner application?

I’ve built three separate websites with the iNat API without using an api key.
