BREAKING NEWS: A white lynx spider nest( more like a clump of eggs covered in silk) has been found right outside my house! I’m watching it daily. Will add photos soon.
This post made me dig into a hunch that turned out true: that the blood ‘sport’ of gambling on spider fighting is real, and popular in many parts of Asia.
In some parts (particularly within the economically poorer communities) it’s actually a social problem as it acts as a kind of gateway to gambling addiction among the youth. And if course, there is the morality issues of animal cruelty and the deep roots of blood sports Incorporated into festival and holiday traditions.
But to be honest, I never realized that spiders were also part of this issue.
Awesome! I have no idea what that really is, but you’re obviously excited, so it’s probably great!

That white silk clump next to da spider is a egg sac! The spider has been guarding it for a few days so far, and it will hatch soon!
Nice, if you manage to get good shots from the hatchlings that would be amazing! Juvenile spiders are always tricky, would be great to get more references
I’ll try my best!
Yes I read that after I had photographed one in Brunei.
Thiania bhamoensis
Today in the woods I photographed this minute spider, just a few millimeters in size (yet to be IDed), so small it was difficult to see the details until I looked at the image on the screen and found it was actually TWO spiders, one on top of the other. Not at all sure what I’m looking at, is this a predation? Or mating with significant sexual dimorphism? Any ideas? Unfortunately the spider underneath is pretty blurry and given the minute size, I’m not sure I’d have been able to do much better even if I’d realised what was going on at the time.
(I’ve a bit of a backlog, but I’ll be uploading the pics to iNat for IDing as soon as I get round to it
Mating with significant sexual dimorphism, I think. These are meshweavers, family Dictynidae. Female above, male underneath.
Of course, that can end with predation…
great photos! she’s a beauty! (he probably is too)
while it’s far from the best photo of an ant-mimic jumping spider on iNat, it’s the best i’ve gotten so far! these are small and fast

such incredible morphology.
I just found a species of Mrymarchne that’s been on my bucket list for a while 3
Nice! I’ve only seen the fairly common red-weaver ant mimic spider before, but I hope to see more species. They are such cool arachnids!
Errr… How? *confused brain noises *
I don’t know, no one confirmed or said anything yet on the ob…
A drone fly being too literal? No “pilot” in the insect…who’s holding the remote?
