I’ve actually been considering doing this some day, nice to see others are interested in the concept haha.@yongestation is the only person I know of who looks through iNat as part of their Twitch streams. I don’t know of anyone doing live identification streams though, but I agree that could be good entertainment!
I’ve done stuff like that in the past, and it’s been part of unofficial workshops too.
It’s nice to ID alongside friends, and one or several people can share their screen to either share something neat, or pool knowledge. Just so long as each person is careful not to dogpile an ID unless they themselves can confirm it.
Haha, Hi Cliff. I’ll give you a follow on iNat.
From my perspective, they are all content creators. Having a large audience is what creates influence, and acting as an influencer is a choice.
While you shared some examples of using influence in a negative way, the concept itself is neutral. Influence can be used for positive things, like promoting native plants, or protesting destructive development bills. At the same time, there are many creators with large followings who never try to influence their audience; they just love to share what they do.
That’s really interesting. I’ve streamed Wingspan and some other games on Twitch. Maybe I should get back into streaming and do some iNaturalist and eBird stuff.
