I want to follow people on Instagram/YouTube/TikTok etc who are using and posting about iNat and animals that they find.
Please share me any account links and feel free to share your own account as well if you’d like :)

“Crime pays but botany doesn’t” on Youtube is a big advocate of iNat. He doesn’t really show himself using it much though if that’s what you’re after specifically. His profile is https://uk.inaturalist.org/people/joeysantore
Thanks, I saw this channel. Although I didn’t say, I’m looking for people who do animals, not plants.

gwentomologist on inat^^
and as a bonus, I dont know if he uses inat but it feels like he does, general apathy on youtube!
A page to follow for stunning nature photos (mainly animals) is https://www.instagram.com/naturefold/ by @alexis_orion - very active on iNat but also beyond that (Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2024) / https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?user_id=alexis_orion
mind-blowing macro photography!
My wife and I have a YouTube channel where we look for birds. We track our year count and try to find rare birds when they show up. We are currently doing a “Warbler Challenge”. It is focused on Ontario, Canada - but we travel elsewhere a couple of times a year including Costa Rica earlier this year.
Latest video from the Warbler Challenge is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4oStvHPwuU
I don’t show my iNat usage on the channel, but I am active on the site posting various observations from interesting sightings, tricky to ID sightings or just random observations snapped with my phone.
Same username, BritHikesOntario
Certainly not an influencer… but I’m on ig with the same username posting some of my better wildlife photos. Mostly but not all underwater critters. https://www.instagram.com/djscho/
I follow https://www.instagram.com/tetracerus_macro/ who has great macro photos and posts about inat.
You have great production, I’m from the UK.
Thank you ![]()
I grew up in Worcestershire but married a Canadian! Been living over here for about 20 years. Will be visiting and filming back in The UK later this year.
You might also be interested in HEXAPODA on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@HEXAPODA
It’s mostly entomological vlogs, and many of the observations are also posted on iNaturalist. The iNat profile is here: https://www.inaturalist.org/people/7641098 ![]()
although this is not quite what you are looking for, I think it’s worth a mention because it’s a good laugh, but check out @inaturalistsh*tpost on instagram. they post iNat observations that are just crazy/funny.
otherwise, I’d definitely check out people’s bios on iNat, several of them mention their photography instagram accounts where they post the photos that they’re using for observations on iNat!
Slightly off-topic, but I’ve always thought there’s a real niche for “Let’s Play”-style videos for iNat. Think Rainbolt with GeoGuessr, but it’s a power user going through identification queues and explaining their diagnostic rationale in real time.
I would watch that everyday while eating dinner
I’ve posted a good few directly or adjacently iNaturalist videos on my channel, AVNJ. Stuff like:
Alexis Nikole Nelson, aka Black Forager, has an active YouTube and TikTok and probably a bunch of other stuff. She occasionally mentions using iNaturalist / recommends its use in her videos. She doesn’t seem super active on iNat itself though: https://www.inaturalist.org/people/blackforager
‘Influencer’ doesn’t seem like the right word. Those are the people who use social media to gain followers for the purpose of selling them garbage or to shill for free stuff from the businesses they review. The people that others have mentioned like Joey Santore or Alexis the Black Forager are more interested in educating people.
There have been some other threads that have discussed YouTubers specifically, so you might check them out (e.g. https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/who-is-your-favourite-nature-host-in-a-video-format/78634/11). Other than the people that have been discussed in this thread and that one, Amy Tan (author of The Joy Luck Club) is big into birding. I used to be in a nature group on Facebook that she participated in. I don’t know if she has an iNat profile, but you could check out her book, The Backyard Bird Chronicles.
I love the channel.
I also profiled him here: https://www.inaturalist.org/blog/108055-identifer-profile-alexis_orion
I’d consider Mushroom Wonderland an iNaturalist “influencer”
