Best practices to track a plant across seasons

I wonder what is the best practice to track the same (wild) plant specimen across seasons.
The only options I know are making multiple observations (but this is an issue with plants which have different looks across seasons) or modifying the same observation adding subsequent pictures In that case the date and phenology loses sense.

Any other approach?
Thanks.

You can use a field for linking multiple observations that you know to be the same individual (even if they look different).
