I’m trying to locate a specific small area on the map, however I can’t read the map because the observations are very dense in this area. I tried searching the name of the place I’m looking for but it doesn’t give any results. I would like to be able to temporarily hide the pins while I find the place. Is this possible? I suppose I could export a polygon from arcpro if need be but that seems like extra steps in this case.
edit: my workaround for the moment is to select “my observations” from the filter menu since I don’t have any in the area
As pisum says, there isn’t a specific tool to temporarily hide observation pins on that page, so yes narrowing by using the filters or using the “draw boundary” tools would be the best workaround I can think of if your goal is to stay on that page to view the map background tiles.
That’s what I do. Draw a small boundary box somewhere out of the way, like the middle of the ocean. Then I can zoom in to the place I’m looking for and redraw the boundary box around that.
I faced this problem a while ago. How I got around it is to set it to an endemic organism outside of where you want to look. I used the Devils Hole Pupfish (Cyprinodon diabolis) as that species is extremely endemic to a single water filled cavern in Nevada. It will mostly get rid of all the clutter on your screen and allow you to explore the map without issue (unless you want to look around in Nevada of course).
