Description of problem: Whenever I attempt to filter for Washington County, Missouri, it does not show up in the listed options. I am attempting to create a project for Washington County to go along with a larger umbrella project, which will be for every county in Missouri. However, Washington has been the only one I have been unable to create.
Step 1: I tried filtering simply for Washington County, and could not find it (see photo 1).
Step 2: I changed it to Washington County, US, and it did not help (see photo 2).
Step 3: I changed it to Washington County, M, and it still did not filter for the county I have been looking for (see photo 3).
Oops, did not check for projects specifically. I’ve had to create a place previously to include it in a project.
So in places, when I type in Washington County, it seems like all of the options in your original screenshot comes up, except the one you want. Try creating that county as a place first and then see if it pops up under the list of places.
Apologies missed the abbreviated form. But, since the place exists and there is already a project associated with it, that means it must be able to work. A little bit of digging and if the project is created as a traditional project and the box for “show place boundary” ticked for ease of reference, it actually does show up. So maybe the new style project is a bit buggy… I’ve managed to create a dummy project in this manner, convert it to a new collection project and it kept the boundary and place.
That still doesn’t fix the issue I’m having here. A traditional project would let me use that location, it will only allow folks to put observations into the county themselves, or by having another user do so manually. I am wanting to create a project for the county of Washington County, Missouri, which includes all observations from the county. A traditional project will not allow this.
