I clear Plantae IDs for Africa every day. Since yesterday any Cliffortia obs with multiple IDs have their CID at Plantae. Despite the CID algorithm being confident that is it Genus, sp, whatever.
I have flagged for curation. Have cleared yesterday’s batch, simply by forcing a reindex. But today I have a fresh lot. Cannot off-hand see any warnings about taxonomy changes in progress.
I presume this is taxonomy in progress, not a bug ??
Still coming in. 37 obs now. I am loath to correct them all, if they can be automagically resolved ?
Trying to decode the taxon history looks like Cliffortia odorata briefly (for about 2 minutes on March 1) got grafted to green algae and then returned to its proper place in section Ruboides. It looks like it was unplaced in the taxon framework and something went wrong when creating the relationship. I don’t see any recent change in the higher-level taxa or the few other species I’ve looked at to account for it.
That brief regraft might have triggered a re-computation of disagreements that is still rippling through the system. I’m not positive, though. Hopefully if so they will shake out again in another few days.
Shall I force a re-index, or wait ?
