Connecting with Observers in a Given Place

If you are organizing a bioblitz, is there a way to connect with all the INaturalist observers in that area?

For instance, if I’m organizing an event in Queechee, Vermont, I’d like to do a search in Explore mode for Queechee. I could then click on the list of observers for that town.

I know it’s possible to message each of those observers individually, but it would be easier if you could message them all and say “I’m organizing a bioblitz for x place on y date, please come.”

I can see the danger that INaturalist could turn into a spam factory. But it seems like there should be a way to minimize that threat.

No, there isn’t a mass message feature.

Some people use journal posts and @ mention multiple users in the posts.

Earlier requests to ‘send a message to everyone here’ were turned down. Also by iNatters themselves.

Write a journal post about your event - then copypasta as a comment on a recent obs by your local iNatter. If you start a project for your event now - you can encourage people to join. Then make a few, thoughtful, journal posts for the project. Your project members can be motivated to work thru IDs after the event too.

We already have projects set up for CNC26. https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2026 gazillions the map is smothered ! Thanks for reminding me to join 3

Don’t forget to look at observation dates/numbers if you’re contacting people. Personally, I wouldn’t be thrilled at being contacted for a bioblitz in a place I visited once in passing five years ago…

(No, I’ve never visited Vermont - that’s just an example.)
