Hello! I hope you are well. I’m a photographer with biology background, currently enrolled in a conservation photography course. I am looking to do a conservation photography projects - documenting biologists in the field, wildlife/human centered stories.
Do you have any advice for that initial step of finding the a project to pursue? I feel quite confident with the photography, the story-telling, etc. but it’s that first step of how do I find researchers or organizations who would benefit from photography and would like to collaborate? Any advice is greatly appreciated. :)
Agreed with @m_whitson. You could specifically look for faculty or lecturers that are involved in community conservation/outreach programs that may be more open to having a photographer documenting their work and who would benefit from professional coverage.
On a similar thought process, you could also look into local conservation or native plant non-profits. There could be small projects on removing invasive plants, people-centric opportunities like community gardens or student groups.
Maybe a local raptor rehabilitation clinic? (you have some fabulous owl shots on your website!)
