So, we’ve all wondered: What do frogs do in the winter? Well, it depends on what kind. Some frogs hibernate at the muck at the bottom of a pond. Toads burrow underground. But Wood Frogs? They do: None of the above! They literally freeze not-to-death under a rock. When spring comes, the thaw out from the outside in. They’ve been seen out 'n about in temperatures as low as 40 degrees F (4 degrees C)! (Photo - inaturalist.org/observations/389367210 . Credit to @ludoleclerc !) Not exactly a tree frog, but did you know African bullfrogs naturally don’t look like they do cardio? Mine is a healthy weight.
For some reason, Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars keeps coming to mind. Speaking of Star Wars, the cricket in the pic had better have some Jedi tricks under its imaginary sleeve. Otherwise, its life expectancy can be measured in seconds.
