Are there any beetle experts/taxa curators who have any info on the species Asiopus minimus, or the genus Asiopus? I’ve found little info one the genus and would like to know more about it.
why do you want info? are you another person making a terrarium?
Welcome to the forum! I’m afraid I don’t have a bunch of information regarding the species, but I would start on BugGuide.
A. minimus is found throughout the eastern US (mainly). I’ve found it’s most common on roads or in/on loose substrate. I myself have seen the species while digging around in sand. According to BugGuide, they are 7.3-11.7 mm long. Since they are tenebrionids, I’d guess that they feed on decaying organic matter.
No, I’ve seen a lot of them in my backyard and wanted to know more.
Thanks, where did it say the size, I don’t see it on the page?
I grabbed it from the species page: https://bugguide.net/node/view/103804
thanks
