So, one of the top beetle identifiers (as in one of the top 10) account vanished some time in the last 10 or so hours, along with all of the identifications that account had made. Is it possible that this had to do with it? I wouldn’t think so, but I just wanted to check as this is a mess that will probably never be fixed. We’re talking about around 100,000 identifications just in beetles.
This doesn’t delete an account, only log you out, to delete it, user had to be logged in, and if they didn’t inform staff that it was an accident, it must’ve been a willingful act.
This is sad to hear. Are you able to reach out to them outside of iNat and ask what happened?
can you please turn this into a direct message conversation?
I received a message from no-reply@inaturalist.org but the confirmation link is missing. I don’t know how to go on.
Thanks for clarifying. This is the first report we’ve had of a link missing from the email. Can you please forward the email you received to help@inaturalist.org so that we can investigate?
Yes, I will forward. It will be in the Czech language.
Got it. I’ll respond to you there.
I did it & had the email confirmation within a minute.
Not sure what your policy on pinning topics is, but this thread might be worth putting a pin in for a while.
Updated the original post to say we removed the immediate lockout part of the process. I apologize to anyone who was locked out of their account due to problems getting their confirmation email.
Hah! That’s exactly what happened to me too, except that somehow I had two Mail folders of exactly the same name (still not sure how that’s possible) and my filter was pushing the recent iNat emails into one of them and I looked in the other.
Took a chance that adding the contact of no-reply@inaturalist.org fixed the problem. And it did, went through the email verification process smoothly this time. Thank you for taking the time to sort this out.
Oops or so I thought, stuck in the loop of confirming and getting another email to confirm now. At least we aren’t locked out anymore. Thank you for that. Will email [help@inaturalist.org]
After confirming the mail, there is no way to get into the mail specified in the profile. How can I go back to my account and change to another email that will be correct?
This is the dni_catipo problem (on the website)
his email address dni_catipo@mail.ru

someone DM’ed me on iNat and said that the email updates they normally get from iNat seemed to have stopped since they confirmed this email; possibly related, or a separate problem?
Tough to say without specifics. If we have their email address we can check to see if their email provider gave us any feedback (like they marked it as spam or didn’t accept it). Unfotunately some email providers don’t always do that.
