Explore settings should be persistent in all cases

I often start some kind of explanation not from the explanation asterisk but from somewhere else.

In example I open someone’s profile and start to look what the person has posted and I might be helpful with IDs.

Or I open a project and go through the observations.

In both cases I can return to the exploration operations with the arrow on the upper left corner.

I would prefer to have the same result when I use the asterisk instead.

That is what I intuitively do not only because it needs less movement than to the arrow far away from the IDing buttons.

By the asterisk, do you mean the Explore button on the bottom nav bar? Or something else?

yes, the explore asterisk in the nav bar.
I prefer to use this because I don’t need to move from one corner of the screen to the oposite corner.

The Explore button is always meant to start a new search, e.g. when you see it on a taxon screen, it’s meant to show you observations of that taxon, not to take you back in your navigation history. It is a bit confusing that you can have multiple “instances” of Explore in your navigation history, but we feel doing the opposite, as your requesting, might be even more confusing, e.g. you’re in Explore, you view an observation, you tap on a taxon, and you tap the Explore button and you jump all the way back to Explore with your previous filters set.

Thx for discussing my idea.
Though I still would prefer what I proposed I think whe can leave it there, essentially as there is no support from the community.
