Updates from people we follow do not appear in the “Following” tab on iNaturalist app (Android and iOS).
This is a known bug.

This is not a bug, it was never intended to show observations of people that you follow. There was a request to add this functionality, but it was declined by staff, see https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/view-observations-by-people-youre-following-on-android-app/6509
