This past spring, a momma Red Fox was teaching her cub how to climb up on my car! Observation here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/285090290.
This is such a fun thread! iNat certainly includes the broad spectrum of drama one would expect from observing nature, and the comedy sure beats some of the sad things we come across. I don’t have any new observations that I’ve seen on hand, but I did start a similar thread a few months back (funny observers who heighten the inherent comedy of their or others’ observations): https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/funny-people/60432/52.
Dragonflies can make some of the best models! I find it funny when they sit with their abdomen in the air on something; looks like they’re waiting for the wind to lift them up and take them somewhere :)
I have this one posted elsewhere also but it fits this topic like a glove. Late summer and this Cardinal apparently still didn’t have a mate so it was attacking ALL the competition. It was actually attacking it’s reflection in every car side mirror… that came into the parking lot. This happens to my vehicle. We saw this ( I assume) same cardinal doing the same thing several days earlier also.
Hahaha. Reminds me of something:
Here is the link to this ob with a bit of an explanation: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/289850866
You didn’t take the rubbish out! Forgot to get milk again! What’s wrong with you Gavin?
I am talking to you!
Funny is the fact that AI says ‘@clip posting a squirrel with a frozen pizza, and @jansson capturing a bird’s dramatic reaction to stolen grain.’ In tha summary when it’s actually a gull instead of a squirrell and a bug instead of a gull.
I can’t imagine a “bird’s dramatic reaction to stolen grain“ :).
Also, it says - ‘Thunderhead posts a series of photos of a bird at a window‘.
Does it look like a bird?
Well… it is a very dirty window!!!
(Unless AI meant the ‘hand gesture’?!?
‘Thunderhead posts a series of photos of a dirty window‘ would have been much more accurate.
How do you see the AI report anyway?? :)
There is a button with “Summarize” and those stars (on the website at least), I don’t think its available in all topics and is sometimes very much out of date:
Oh, I see it now! Hahahaha,
‘and saintaardvark shares a favorite observation of a bird with a cartoon-like face.’ That was a raccoon!
‘mkanimallover shares a photo of a dragonfly,’ I most certainly did not. I shared some thoughts on dragonflies.
At my house, we have a joke in which we call AI ‘artificial, but not intelligent’
This seems rather fitting :)
That’s pretty funny in itself anyway :)
