Have you seen how sea snakes see in the sea?

Cool new research on evolution of snake eyesight:

https://phys.org/news/2020-05-sea-snakes-underwater-million-years.html

Many snakes have excellent color vision, which is fascinating because the snake group is thought to have evolved from “fossorial” (means burrowing) ancestors which likely did not have good vision.

My friend Andrew Durso discusses another interesting aspect of snake vision on his blog “Life is Short but Snakes Are Long” here: http://snakesarelong.blogspot.com/2013/11/how-snakes-see-through-closed-eyes.html

I’m surprised that sea snakes are only 15 million years old. That’s surprisingly recent for a reptile group.
